CEDARWOOD COUNSELOR & SKILL INSTRUCTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This role is the core of the summer staff team, and represents the largest group of the Cedarwood family. The role of the counselor/instructor is to build relationships with a small group of teenagers, presenting them with the Gospel throughout the day and to lead a quality instructional program for campers in their assigned skill all along providing campers with a safe, challenging, rewarding, exciting and overall amazing summer experience during their week at Cedarwood.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1 To live-in with a small group of teenagers during the camp sessions and to participate with your campers in the daily camp program whenever possible
2 To attend and participate in regular morning staff meetings.
3 To lead a daily small group discussion with campers (Utalk).
4 To maintain contact and updates with supporters.
5 To lead afternoon programs with campers (Cabin Kickback).
6 To participate in various program elements as required (comedy sketches, speaking, music, giving leadership to camp-wide activities)
7 To provide skill instruction during scheduled periods (BMX, Wakeboarding, Kayaking, Climbing, etc.). To be familiar with level requirements (theory and practical), handouts and tests. To be able to perform and competently instruct the assigned skill and to facilitate in all ways the highest level of achievement for each camper.
8 To provide for storage, maintenance and security of all program equipment.
9 To complete a thorough evaluation of camp as required by the Camp Director before leaving at the end of your ministry period.
